I can’t stop reminiscing about my child hood and how music played such an imperative part. From the chorus and singing in the school plays and awards programs, the chorus concerts. (They probably stopped those years ago) And last but not least…. learning to play an instrument in the band. When I was given the Saxophone I looked at that thing and said “Man I want the drums” It seemed to be too many keys to learn at the time. The teacher didn’t allow me to change so after a few weeks of practice it started to jell. My life lesson from that experience is that I can do anything with a little practice and commitment. At present my music background in which I leaned in elementary school helps me as a professional Disc Jockey today. I even leaned some Disc Jockey stuff in the 4th grade from my older brother as well. What he taught me made since because of what I was already leaning about music during school. Bottom line if we want our kids to be successful they need different food for their brains from birth until….. The little chorus and band classes will last a life time!!!!!!!!
I understand that the budget is in bad shape but please look at other areas! The Georgia Dept of Corrections spends on average $16,888 per year PER INMATE (its on their web site). Maybe if we spend that much per child on education, there would be fewer people in prison. That alone will open up more money!
